ITC Luxury Travel announces acquisition of Western & Oriental Travel Group in a multi-million pound deal

ITC Luxury Travel, one of the UK’s leading independent luxury tour operators, has announced that the company has acquired Western and Oriental’s four travel businesses – Rainbow Tours, Regent Holidays, Villa Select and Western & Oriental, after a multi-million pound deal (the exact terms of which remain undisclosed). Forming a new collective of seven key companies including ITC Sports, ITC Luxury Travel now presents an all-encompassing global offering, covering everything from African adventures to Albanian excursions, luxury family villas to famous sporting events.

Following the completion of a management buy-out last August, backed by Paul Pindar, ITC Luxury Travel has gone from strength to strength. Since then, CEO Jennifer Atkinson has co-ordinated a targeted strategy to buy and build businesses within the luxury travel sector. As one of the UK’s longest established independent tour operators, established in 1974, ITC Luxury Travel has spent the past 40 years amassing a wealth of knowledge and has become synonymous with providing clients an exceptional holiday offering and service. Adding further experience and commercial opportunities to the group, Western & Oriental - a similarly prestigious name in luxury travel - has been assimilated into the company’s extensive portfolio to oversee an exciting new chapter for ITC Luxury Travel.

Following this acquisition, the combined turnover of the enlarged ITC Luxury Travel Group will exceed £75 million and the group will generate proforma profit of circa £3.5m. This follows ITC Luxury Travel's most successful year, which saw turnover of £47m and a profit of £1.7m.

Specialists in tailor-made travel, Western & Oriental offer holidays for the discerning traveller to over 75 global destinations including Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Far East and India. They have three offices based in Birmingham, London and Bristol, employing a total of 75 staff.  Uniting with ITC Luxury Travel’s 105 staff based in Chester, opportunities for talented individuals to thrive will be presented to all 180 employees.

CEO of ITC Luxury Travel, Jennifer Atkinson, commented: “The addition of the Western and Oriental Group of companies brings a wealth of talented and experienced people, well-respected brands within the travel market and gives ITC the opportunity not just to expand on its core ‘luxury beach’ programme but also to grow and develop its touring destinations.

Over the coming months we will be working together as a group to look at how we best create and optimise the opportunities of being the UK’s largest independent one stop luxury and tailor-made travel company.

This is very much an exciting new chapter in ITC’s long and successful business history and we are genuinely excited about all the opportunities this presents.”
