Smart sets tails wagging at the Collars & Coats Gala Ball 2014

Dog Show
On Thursday 30th October Battersea Evolution, a corporate event space operated by Smart Group, played host to an evening of top celebrities, sparkling entertainment and of course, the capital’s finest canines for Battersea Dogs &  Cats Home’s annual Collars & Coats Gala Ball.

The evening kicked off with a red carpet display in which the charity’s alumni arrived to a VIP welcome from around 50 of the Home’s rescue dogs and service dogs alongside stars including: David Gandy, Dame Jaqueline Wilson, Paul O’Grady MBE and Amanda Holden.

A Champagne reception kicked off the event and guests were given a stunning performance from classical violinist Vanessa Mae as they took their seats for a sumptuous Smart-catered dinner. Highlights included: pan seared red mullet, chorizo cream, braised leeks and crispy onion rings and a deconstructed ‘Banoffee Pie by Smart’.

Throughout the evening guests were treated to a whole host of dazzling performances including Vanessa Mae and soul sensation Heather Small. Four-legged stars were also at the heart of the entertainment, with a touching commemoration to all the dogs that have served alongside our forces on the front line.

The ball closed with Craig Revel-Horwood introducing Dave Arch and the Strictly Come Dancing band who played with their usual gusto as guests danced the rest of the night away.

Hawthorn provided the technical production for the event. A visually striking black-and-white theme was augmented by over 70m of white voile drapes installed around the venue. A combination of over 50 moving lights and wash lights were also used to create a dynamic mood and emphasise impressive stage features.
