The Chedi Andermatt opens new Relaxation Lounge in The Spa

The Chedi Andermatt new Relaxation Lounge in The Spa
The Chedi Andermatt, Switzerland, has unveiled its new Relaxation Lounge at The Spa. Inspired by Tibetan sceneries, this latest addition to The Spa has been created to indulge all the senses, with screens displaying images that change every 20 seconds to simulate looking out of a window over a Himalayan landscape. Each treatment bed is enclosed in its own private cocoon-style space, where guests can relax and absorb the benefits of the spa therapy they have just experienced.

Having only opened its doors in December 2013 as the first five-star hotel in Andermatt, and GHM's first hotel in Europe, The Spa at The Chedi Andermatt has already triumphed at this years Condé Nast Traveller Spa Awards, picking up the prestigious ‘Most Indulgent Spa’ award. The highly commended spa and wellness centre spans an incredible 2,400 square metres, and benefits from a year-long Swiss alpine environment to enhance the restorative powers of the treatments on offer. Designed in collaboration with esteemed Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects, Brenda Ramen, Global Spa Director of GHM describes The Spa as “heavily inspired by the surrounding Alpine environment, partnered with Asian influences, resulting in a warm, luxurious, decadent relaxation haven.”

The new Relaxation Lounge joins a range of facilities on offer at The Spa, including bio and Finnish saunas, a scented salt steam bath, an outdoor pool, hot and cold plunge pools, traditional Hammam, ice fountain and flower bath. Guests can relax with Alpine or Oriental treatments using the finest organic products from SpaRitual, ila, REN and Alpienne in one of the ten spa suites. There is also a temperature-controlled outdoor pool, and a 35-metre indoor pool looking out onto the stunning Alps.
