Food and Drink 2015 - a night of celebration for Scotland

Scotland’s food and drink sector celebrated just a few of its many successes during 2015 at a reception sponsored by Levy Restaurants UK and hosted at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC).
The event drew over 50 stakeholders involved in the campaign to support Scottish food and drink producers and was headlined by a presentation from Richard Lochhead MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Food and the Environment and the chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink, James Withers.

The evening showcased some of those involved with Scotland's rich natural larder including chocolatiers, gin distillers and honey producers. Guests enjoyed mixology and canapés drawn from local producers with bites including ceviche of Lewis salmon and mini Scotch beef Wellington.  

2015 has been Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink and Levy Restaurants UK, the official hospitality partner to some of Scotland's largest venues including Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), The SECC and leisure destinations Edinburgh Zoo and The SSE Hydro have played their part in supporting the year.  

Further underlining its commitment to supporting local producers, the EICC recently signed up to a 'Scottish food and drink pledge', becoming Scotland's first conference venue and one of the first organisations to make a commitment to working with its various food and drink partners to ensure the use of authentic, sustainable Scottish produce where possible.   

Fiona Richmond, project manager, Scotland Food & Drink said: “Scotland has an abundant larder and an amazing array of craft producers who displayed the best in fresh, regional food and drink last night.  The celebratory event recognised the campaign's successes and highlighted Scotland’s status as a Land of Food and Drink at home and abroad. ”

More significantly we will continue to help champion Scottish food and drink amongst our venues in Scotland and also those further afield.”
