Edinburgh City's tourism performance figures to be released at ETAG Conference

Over 200 representatives from the Capital’s tourism sector will get together on Tuesday 21 January at the annual Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG) conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

At the launch of the Edinburgh 2020 Tourism Strategy in 2012, the sector set out a clear vision and ambitious vision for tourism for the period to 2020.   The strategy aimed to act as a catalyst for partnership and collaboration across the industry and build the case for, and prioritise investment in, the tourism product.

At the conference on Tuesday, Convener of the City of Edinburgh Council’s Economic Development Committee, Councillor Frank Ross, will unveil the first ‘Strategy Performance Monitoring Report’ which measures the five core indicators (total number of visitors, total expenditure, average spend per trip, seasonality and additional jobs created).

The theme of this year’s conference will be 2014 and Beyond…. and look at the growth opportunities and challenges for the tourism sector going forward.
