InterContinental London – The O2 bolsters Corporate and Leisure Sales Team

The InterContinental London – The O2, has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Suren Hettiarchchi, as Leisure Sales Manager and Maria Georgiou as Business Development Executive.  
The appointments come on the back of a very successful first six months of business for the hotel, which opened in January 2016.


Suren joins the hotel from ICVolunteers Conferences, in Switzerland and was formerly at Grange Hotels, London, Sri Lankan Tourist Board, Whistlestop and Crystal Holidays. Maria was previously Sales Coordinator at Grosvenor House, a Marriott Hotel, and prior to that was at Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotels, May Fair Hotel, Sketch restaurant, London, which she joined having relocated from Switzerland.    

Suren comments: “It’s an exciting time to join the team in this pivotal first year, as we look to capitalise on the positive reviews and opening buzz to develop and promote our offer to leisure travellers in the UK and overseas. The hotel has a prime location, being as it is the perfect base from which to experience the rich heritage of historic Royal Greenwich, on the doorstop of one of the largest live event venues in the world, The O2 arena and just 15 minutes from the West End – it’s a fantastic destination and it’s no surprise that it’s so popular with guests.”  

Commenting on her appointment, Maria said: “I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to bear as part of the team at the InterContinental London – The O2. Having already established itself as a prime luxury London hotel, I’ll be focused on working with my colleagues and our clients, both new and existing, to continue to increase profitability and revenue across the leisure and corporate markets.”  

The InterContinental London – The O2 boasts 453 guest rooms, a luxury Spa with 17m pool and eight treatment rooms as well as a collection of London’s finest destination restaurants and bars, including The Peninsula fine dining restaurant, informal open-kitchen Market Brasserie, the Clipper Bar, rooftop sky bar Eighteen and ground floor Meridian Lounge with riverside terrace.
