Scott Taylor joins the Scottish Hotel Awards as Special Advisor

The Scottish Hotel Awards has added further depth to its operational team with the appointment of Scott Taylor as its special advisor.
CEO of the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau until 2015, Scott Taylor began his career in hotels, gaining early success with the Cesar Ritz Award in 1988. He went on to manage three city centre hotels, marketing for ROCCO FORTE Hotels.

As director of the Glasgow Convention Bureau since 1998, he has been at the forefront of growth of the city’s convention business. He established Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, and as Chief Executive steered the company to win Best UK Convention Bureau every year for the past decade, securing more than 3,500 conferences. He led the award winning brand People Make Glasgow, and is proud to have been in the bid team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. As CEO of Advance City Marketing, he advises towns and cities worldwide on strategy for destination marketing organisations, convention bureaus and he is also a technical bid advisor.

Scott joins Damian Riley-Smith, Chairman of the Scottish Hotel Awards, founder Gary McLean-Quin, membership manager Christine White and operations manager Anita Ujszaszi. The 2017 Research Judges include David Welch, formerly of the George Hotel, Denis MacCann from the Radisson Blu and Ewing Stewart from the Doubletree Hilton, as well as Five Star Magazine’s Renata Parolari Fernandes and international travel journalist Vivien Devlin.

Scott will participate in each level of the judging process and will provide strategic advice with specific focus on marketing and on generating commission-free bookings.
