Tobacco Dock appoints Helena Duro as marketing manager

Helena Duro has been appointed to the role of marketing manager at Tobacco Dock, a landmark conference and events space located in Wapping, London and a community for the ideas generation.

In the role, Helena will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of both Tobacco Dock and the company’s associated co-working space, The Dock’s, marketing strategies.

A key role in the position will be ensuring Tobacco Dock and The Dock increase awareness amongst target audiences, including: event agencies, corporate event buyers, exhibition organisers and the entrepreneurial community. She will also assume responsibility, as primary contact, for all digital, PR and communications activities, working with the venue’s current partner agencies.

Helena joins Tobacco Dock with an impressive portfolio of previous positions and extensive experience in marketing B2B events, both from client and agency side. Most recently, she worked as marketing manager at the US/UK agency Rockpool Digital. Previously she has worked at software company Concrete and technology and innovation firm PA Consulting Group.

Commenting on the new role, Helena said: “After attending several brilliant events at Tobacco Dock, I am extremely excited about joining such a talented team, not to mention working in such a unique and impressive venue! The Dock continues to be a top choice for startups and entrepreneurs wanting a working space, and I look forward to help making 2016/2017 its most successful year yet.”

Helena’s appointment comes at the culmination of an organization-wide recruitment drive at Tobacco Dock. Two further new starters will be joining the operations & logistics team.

Thomas Hughes joins as an operations manager from the Qatar National Convention Centre, where he was responsible for managing a wide range of market-leading, B2B conventions including World Petroleum Congress, Qatar Motor Show and cultural performances such as a 6,000-seater Ed Sheeran concert.

David Bryne also joins as an operations coordinator from the Business Design Centre, having also recently completed his Bsc (Hons.) in Event Management at Sheffield Hallam University.

Jonathan Read, commercial director at Tobacco Dock added, “We’re delighted to welcome Helena, Thomas and David to the Tobacco Dock family. 2016/2017 promises to be a year of significant growth for us and as such we need to ensure we have the very best people to help deliver an increased amount of events and to help service the growing capacity of The Dock as more entrepreneurs and start-ups see the advantages of using co-working facilities. I look forward to working with them all over the coming year, building further on our strong business foundations.”
