Christian Hirt appointed General Manager of Raffles Istanbul

Peter French, President, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Christian Hirt as General Manager of Raffles Istanbul. Mr Hirt took up the position on Monday 11 April 2016.  
Hirt’s career began in his native Germany and he has since gained experience in North America, Europe and Australia. He knows Istanbul from the time he was Director of Operations at Swissôtel The Bosphrous, Istanbul for three years. He then transferred to Swissôtel Sydney as General Manager from 2013 to April 2016.

Peter French says: “Christian is a dedicated professional. His guiding principles are guest satisfaction, service quality and attention to detail, all of which chime perfectly with the Raffles Hotels & Resorts philosophy of emotional luxury. He brings his extensive overall experience, as well as an impressive hands-on approach. Both of these will stand him in good stead, in steering the continuation of Raffles Istanbul’s healthy growth, in a city he knows so well.”  

Prior to joining Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts, Hirt held executive positions with Le Méridien and Kempinski hotel group in Germany, St. Petersburg, Russia and North America.  

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Hirt says, “I am thrilled to come back to Istanbul to work for such an iconic brand as Raffles Hotels & Resorts.  I am excited to bring my expertise gained in the luxury field as well as my passion for hospitality to Raffles Istanbul and look forward to being part of the future success of this very special hotel in such a vibrant and exciting city.”  

Christian Hirt completed an MBA at Reims Management School in France and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel & Restaurant Administration from the Hotel Management Academy in Germany.
