Azamara expands UK and Ireland team

Azamara Club Cruises has announced the expansion of its UK team, following the successful establishment of its UK business. The newest addition to the company is Jennifer Wright who joins as Business Development Manager and will be committed to growing Azamara UK's MICE and charter business, brand partnerships, and managing a selection of boutique and niche trade partners.

Jennifer brings almost 20 years’ worth of sales and marketing experience in the travel industry, spanning a variety of markets. She was most recently at SeaDream and has previously held roles at Holland America Line and Citalia Holidays. Jennifer is highly experienced in the successful promotion of premium quality travel products through expert commercial negotiation and account management.

Jennifer Wright commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Azamara at this exciting time in the company’s journey. From the incredible new ship refits to the inspirational destinations, there is so much for me to work with and I’m really excited to get started and build on the successes of the last two years.”

RCL Cruises Ltd evolved its business structure in 2014 to form dedicated businesses for each of its three brands; Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises. Led by UK & Ireland Managing Director Richard Twynam, Azamara has since focused on enhancing its strength in the UK market and successfully achieved a 7%-point increase on bookings from this region in 2015. Azamara continues to focus solely on Destination, whilst also concentrating on progression and investment in its UK business.

Azamara is placing significant investment into its brand in early 2016; Reimagine Azamara involves major top-to-toe refurbishments to both mid-sized ships and will enhance guests’ onboard experience. The upgrades to Azamara Journey were completed in January and Azamara Quest will enter drydock this April in Singapore. From bow to stern, no area will be left untouched - the transformation will cover all staterooms and suites, dining, spa and entertainment.

Looking ahead to a positive future, the brand has also made structural changes to its UK and Ireland sales & marketing teams. Karen Sequeira has been promoted to Head of Marketing and PR, and Alexandra Schwartz, formally of Viking Cruises, has joined as Digital Marketing Executive. Meanwhile, Stuart Pearce has been promoted to Strategic Account Manager and will be focusing on growing business from some of Azamara's retail partners, as well as continuing the outstanding work he has done with some of the brands largest UK partners.

Richard Twynam, Managing Director, Azamara Club Cruises UK & Ireland commented, “It’s been incredible to see Azamara’s UK business go from strength to strength over the past two years. I’m really proud of our multi-award winning dedicated team, and we’re excited to welcome Jenny onboard to continue our journey with us.”
