They were the guests of Jumeirah Pera Palace Hotel and MEP Destination Business Solutions. ITCM has been able to talk to two of the delegates about their impressions of Turkey’s capital city.

This is the message that Eda Özden was able to give in a discussion with Sydney Paulden of ITCM.
Eda was speaking on behalf of MEP Destination Business Solutions (MEP DBS), part of the MEP Group, which has been in the forefront of the MICE sector in Turkey for nearly 40 years. Founded and managed by Eda’s parents, Birgül and Tomruk Özden, the company is based in Istanbul and operates destination management services throughout Turkey

Anna Ivanko was in London and ITCM was pleased to be able to meet her. She was here to promote the Moscow Convention Bureau. The organisation was founded in August 2013 and is therefore just over a year old. Anna is the Head of its International Marketing Department.
‘We were established’, she explained, ‘by Moscow City Government represented by the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship.’

I have been the first to stress that MICE business is very distinct from consumer travel. However, there are areas where the interests of individual passengers and group organisers are beginning to overlap.
The common factor is the need to keep down costs. Where the consumer area can be of assistance is in the huge quantity of data that can be collected relating to general air passenger traffic. The findings based on these data can feed into organisers’ decision-making and steer them towards decisions that can achieve economies.
