ITCM’s Briony Key meets Phillip Hall, Centara Group’s Director of Sales and MarketingPhillip Hall, Group Director of Sales and Marketing of Centara Hotels and Resorts, was in London and over lunch was able to tell ITCM how rapidly this leading Thai hotel chain is expanding. The big news was that the group is opening a Mauritius hotel for Christmas 2012.
And the group promises many other new developments to ensure the New Year provides event bookers with more options in many countries.
Phillip said: ‘The 100-room Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Mauritius opens in December with a choice of superior and deluxe rooms, with garden or ocean views.
Its facilities include an all-day restaurant with international cuisine, an à la carte restaurant specialising in Asian and Indian Ocean dishes and a beach restaurant and bar serving cocktails and comfort foods.
‘For leisure and incentive attractions there’s the Spa Cenvaree, a swimming pool, fitness centre, beach activities and more.’
The newly built 9-storey, 161-room property is close to the beach and has two meeting rooms for groups up to 30 theatre style. (For larger events, the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya can host groups up to 700 in its Mirage Ballroom.) There will also be outdoor areas for conference and incentives, themed welcome cocktail receptions and al fresco dinners at the roof-top restaurant.
An all-day restaurant serving international and Thai cuisines and the Spa Cenvaree, fitness centre and swimming pool complete the picture.
A third new Centara property is to be opened in the Maldives in 2014. ‘Construction is just beginning’, Phillip said, ‘of the Centara 4-star Hudhufushi Resort & Spa Maldives. It will feature 80 land villas and 30 water villas, along with two restaurants, a meeting room, Spa Cenvaree, swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness centre and a water sports and dive centre. And this will be just the first phase!’
