British Meetings & Events Industry Survey (BMEIS) offers annual in-depth study into UK’s conferencing sector

Birmingham has been named the country’s favourite business tourism destination outside London by UK-based event organisers.  
The annual British Meetings & Events Industry Survey (BMEIS) – a report highlighting the buying trends and characteristics of nearly 500 conference organisers from the corporate and not-for-profit sectors – revealed that Birmingham was the preferred choice outside of the capital to host events. Birmingham was ranked ahead of Manchester, Edinburgh and Leeds in the top five by industry professionals.

Expanded Seoul MICE Alliance boosts City’s business events competitiveness

Seoul’s business events support has strengthened with a boost in membership of the Seoul MICE Alliance (SMA).
In October, the SMA gained 36 members, bringing the alliance up to 230 just ahead of the SMA Annual Meeting. The new members comes from a range of industries including the recently opened Courtyard Marriot Seoul Namdaemun, food tour operator O’ngo Food Communications, and numerous new duty-free shopping malls.

UNWTO Executive Council meeting opens in Luxor, Egypt

The city of Luxor in Egypt is hosting the 104th meeting of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) between 31 October and 1 November. The Meeting will discuss the three priorities of the Organization for 2016-2017: safe, secure and seamless travel; the impact of technology in the tourism sector and sustainability.
