IMEX and London launches new IMEXLive online to give industry pro’s remote ‘window’ on the show

With support from London’s official CVB London & Partners (formerly known as Visit London), meeting and events industry professionals who can’t attend the IMEX trade show in Frankfurt this May 21- 23 will now have the chance to view the show remotely from their office PC or mobile device.

Called IMEXLive, the new online platform will aggregate video, social media and other rich content from the show to provide a selective multi-media experience for those who can’t be there. IMEXLive will contain interviews with key industry figures, a live webcam, show statistics, webcast educational sessions and a variety of twitter and YouTube feeds. Taking part will be as simple as using the #IMEX13 hashtag to tweet messages and photos. The emphasis will be on user-generated content and building a busy online IMEX community for the duration of the show.

IMEXLive has been devised and developed by How Can I Be Social (HCIBS), the Netherlands-based company that also provides free social media support and advice for all IMEX participants through the @IMEXSocialTeam.

Explaining the thinking behind the new concept, Carina Bauer, IMEX Group CEO, says: “Given that IMEX is not a conference it was important for us to find a way to deliver a true IMEX experience, rather than simply educational content in a virtual environment. The minute that business gets into full swing at the show there’s an amazing ‘buzz’ and we wanted to find a way of sharing that -  both with those who couldn’t come for one reason or another, and those who don’t fully appreciate the business and education opportunity that they’re missing. IMEXLive is a way for everyone to experience IMEX from afar, to gain value from show content and for us to make everyone feel included whilst also reinforcing the value of a major face-to-face business event.”

Keen to promote their position as “the official convention bureau of London”, London & Partners snapped up the chance to be the new platform’s first ever sponsors. The organisation will also be sole sponsors of the show’s first ever live webcast, which will broadcast the general session from the new corporate buyer education event, Exclusively Corporate @IMEX. The General Session will feature a panel discussion with senior corporate meeting planners. The panellists include: Meredith Smith, Director Travel and Meetings, Asia Pacific and Japan for Merck and Co; Alise Long, Manager, Corporate Events and Meetings, DSM, and Des Duggan, Manager Education and Staffing at IBM Inside Sales Europe. The IMEX facilitator will be Terri Breining CMP, CMM, President of the Breining Group.

Barbara Jamison, Head of Business Development Europe at London & Partners added: “We love the idea that IMEXLive gives the wider industry a flavour of the show even if everyone can’t physically be there. Finding fresh approaches and innovative new ways to deliver meetings and events is one of the values that both London as a city and London & Partners shares with the IMEX team and IMEXLive, together with the live broadcast of the Exclusively Corporate @IMEX session, brings that value to life with great energy and verve.”

IMEXLive will launch one hour before the show opens on Tuesday 21st May and will be available until Friday the 31st May. Access will be via the IMEX in Frankfurt home page –

Exclusively Corporate @IMEX takes place on Monday 20th May at the Villa Kennedy.
