In the February of 2017 Firmdale Hotels will open The Whitby Hotel, its second New York property.
Situated in the heart of Upper Midtown Manhattan on West 56th Street at 5th Avenue, it’s surrounded by international designer shopping, world-class department stores, restaurants, galleries and museums. Central Park and Broadway is just a short walk.

Interiors will be designed by Firmdale Hotels owner and Design Director, Kit Kemp in her award-winning luxurious, contemporary style for which her innovative, exciting mix of colour, pattern, texture and art is world renowned. As with all other Firmdale hotels every room will have its own individual colour scheme.

Bathrooms will be beautifully finished in marble or granite. The hotel will comprise 86 individually designed bedrooms and suites over sixteen floors all with floor-to-ceiling windows, many with private terraces.

The entire top floor will be dedicated to The Whitby Suite, a spectacular two bedroom headline suite with spacious furnished terraces facing uptown and downtown. There will also be The Whitby Bar which will be open all day, drawing room, orangery and courtyard, as well as several stylish private event rooms and a 130 seat state-of-the-art cinema.  

Firmdale Hotels is privately owned by husband and wife Tim and Kit Kemp and comprises nine award winning luxury hotels in central London and New York. In London’s West End there is the Ham Yard Hotel which opened in 2014, The Soho Hotel, Covent Garden Hotel, Charlotte Street Hotel and Haymarket Hotel as well as the three townhouse properties including Dorset Square Hotel in Marylebone, Knightsbridge Hotel near Harrods and Number Sixteen in South Kensington. Crosby Street Hotel opened in New York’s SoHo in 2009.
