Third Manchester property for Motel One, as brand demonstrates its confidence in the UK economy

Motel One has secured a new lease agreement for St Peter’s Square in Manchester in a deal with Property Alliance Group. The budget-design hotel brand has agreed space for 328 bedrooms subject planning permission for the site. Construction is expected to start in spring next year.

Stefan Lenze, Head of Development at Motel One, said: “This is a perfect base for our third hotel in Manchester. The redevelopment of St Peter’s Square creates one of the most exciting urban spaces right in the heart of the city, so we look forward to working with Alliance to progress the development.”

This new property will join Motel One’s two other hotels in Manchester. The 298-bed Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange on Cross Street is set to open in May 2017, in a prime city centre location just minutes from Manchester Cathedral and the City Hall. The brand’s first venture in Manchester – the 330-bed Motel One Manchester-Picadilly – opened in 2015.

This new project is further testament to Motel One’s confidence in the UK economy and its positive trading experience in the market. Mr Lenze said: “Motel One remains committed to its expansion in the UK, and we are actively looking for further sites in London and Edinburgh, as well as other major cities such as Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds.”

The budget design hotel brand will be opening eight hotels across Europe in 2017 with more than 3,200 bedrooms. The brand currently has eight sites secured in the UK, continuing its rapid expansion plans for the market.
