The Grand Brighton kick starts the Christmas countdown

The Grand Brighton Christmas tree
Last night, The Grand Brighton invited the local community to commence Brighton’s Christmas celebrations in style with a carol concert and festive light display inside the iconic seafront hotel.
Setting the scene for a night of celebrations, friends of The Grand Brighton along with hotel residents enjoyed traditional Christmas carols around the Christmas tree, performed by 40 children from Westdene Primary School.

The Grand Brighton welcomed a local family to represent the hotel’s chosen children’s charity, Rockinghorse, to switch on the light display of the famous spiral staircase. The charity was set up with the aim to make life better for children with serious or life-threatening illnesses across Sussex and Surrey, and also stands as the fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.

The evening also included a charity raffle full of wonderfully “Grand” prizes accompanied by mulled wine, hot chocolate and scrumptious mince pies, courtesy of The Grand Brighton’s executive head chef, Alan White. The festive raffle will continue to raise funds for Rockinghorse until Friday 25 November with tickets available from reception at The Grand Brighton.

Andrew Mosley, General Manager at The Grand Brighton, says: “The annual Grand Switch On has become something of a Brighton tradition and this year we were delighted to welcome the local community to get into the festive spirit. It was great to initiate Brighton’s Christmas celebrations, whilst raising money for a very worthwhile cause.”

The Grand Brighton is an iconic and luxury boutique hotel situated on Brighton’s famous sea-front. Designed and built in 1864, the historical hotel is a true example of Italian influence in Victorian architecture.
