Beat stress, rebalance and reboot Workplace wellness specialist comes to Ananda

Ananda in the Himalayas
As the nights draw in, S.A.D takes hold and work stresses peak, look to the Indian Himalayas as the place to beat anxiety and get a better work-life balance this winter. For the whole of December, destination spa Ananda in the Himalayas will host stress management consultant, meditation instructor and holistic practitioner Toby Maguire as Visiting Master.

Renowned as a corporate wellness guru and founder of Working in Balance, Toby has practiced the healing arts of the east for 20 years. According to Toby, our increased anxiety levels are the result of modern technology. The internet and mobile phones have lengthened the working day and made it almost impossible for people to “escape” the office or flee the constant bombardment of information.

Throughout the whole of December, Toby will be on hand for Ananda guests to tap into his broad range of expertise. He explains, “Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool to determine the cause of the stress or anxiety, while meditation allows individuals to detach themselves from thoughts and emotions and see things with a clearer perspective. Ananda provides the perfect setting to practice these skills, switch off from modern life and re-assess what is important in life.”

Throughout the year, Ananda offers special workshops and private sessions with Visiting Masters in different areas of wellbeing. These teachers, therapists, healers, Ayurvedic doctors and guides visit from around the world to share their talents with the wellness resort’s guests.

Those visiting the destination spa in December can book in for one - or a series of - private consultations with Toby to complement their main wellness programme. He will conduct Hypnotherapy, Microsystem Acupuncture, Chi Nei Tsang, Qi Gong, Reiki and Thai Massage.

Here Toby Maguire shares his five top tips for letting go of long term stress:

1.     Clarity - Be clear about the things in life that are causing you stress and write them down. This enables you to lift the burden from your mind and see it more clearly in black and white 2.     Empower yourself – Write down solutions to the things that are causing you stress and take action to start changing them. Anything can be fixed, but not without effort.

3.     Manage your life – Be clear about what you want in life as this will give you direction in which to channel your thoughts. Without goals, the mind will feel agitated, lost and insecure. Consequently, you’ll worry about things that are unlikely to ever happen.

4.     Accept other people and their differences - We know a lion is dangerous and that sheep are meek and mild. But humans are far more complicated. Learn to accept this and realise that not everyone lives by the same social laws as you do and that’s just the way life is.

5.     Gratitude – Be grateful for what you have. There will always be others with more, so don’t compare yourself with them. Instead contemplate all the things that you do have - then you will start to see the positive in everything, rather than the negative.
