Arora Charitable Foundation announces date for Arora Ball 2016

Evelina Hospital - Arora Ball
The Arora Charitable Foundation, founded by Surinder and Sunita Arora to manage the charitable work of the Arora Group, today announced its third Arora Ball will be held on Saturday 3 December 2016 at the Group’s newest flagship hotel, InterContinental London – The O2.
This year’s Arora Ball will be held in aid of Unicef, the world’s leading children’s organisation, and Shiksha ki Ore, a campaign which helps educate underprivileged children in India, organised by NDTV together with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences.

The most recent Arora Ball, held in 2014 at Sofitel London Heathrow, raised over £750,000 for two causes, Evelina London Children’s Hospital and the LILY Against Human Trafficking; a target which organisers of this year’s balls are aiming to surpass.

Catherine Cottrell, Deputy Executive Director, Fundraising at, Unicef UK, commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Arora Ball which promises to be a great event. The funds raised at the Ball will go to support Unicef’s work for children in Nepal, whose lives were turned upside down by the devastating earthquake of 2015, as well as other Unicef programmes. Unicef has been on the ground and helping children in Nepal for over four decades. It is thanks to our generous supporters that we can say that we will still be there, helping to keep children safe from danger for as long as they need us.”

Tickets for the Charity Ball, proceeds of which will benefit multiple causes via the Arora Charitable Foundation, are available for individuals and group bookings. Individual tickets start from £500 per person and Gold tables start from £5,000 for a table of 10 people.

The evening, supported by high profile partners from multiple industries across the UK, has a Gold Masquerade theme and will include a champagne reception, a sumptuous four-course dinner and a performance by The Function Band. Hosted by comedian and television presenter, Brian Conley, the evening will include two auctions, one a silent auction, which will raise money for this year’s nominated causes. Auction prizes donated so far include a luxury yacht experience, an exclusive holiday in Mauritius and a skiing experience in Courchevel, amongst others. Media partner for the evening, NDTV, will host a televised panel discussion ahead of the main event.

Sunita Arora, joint founder of the Arora Charitable Foundation, commented: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our third ball in support of some really wonderful charities. Whilst the evening itself promises to be a spectacular affair, what is foremost in our mind is raising as much money as possible for the nominated causes, all of which have been chosen as extremely worthy beneficiaries. The money raised at our last ball exceeded our expectations and we’re hoping that, thanks to some wonderful auction prizes and the generosity of this year’s supporters and guests we’ll surpass that figure.

“The Foundation is committed to ensuring that our nominated charities really see the benefit of the funds and we, and a network of our supporters, work with them to ensure that our donations really make a difference.”

The Arora Charitable Foundation was established to create a structure for the Arora Group to support social responsibility initiatives in the UK and overseas. To date two Arora Balls have been held; the inaugural Arora Ball was held in 2012 at Sofitel London Heathrow and in 2014 the Ball took place at Sofitel London Heathrow. The Balls raised a combined total of over £1.2 million on behalf of the Arora Charitable Foundation.

Marian Ridley, Director of Evelina London Children’s Hospital, from commented, “Thanks to the wonderful support of Surinder and Sunita Arora, Evelina London received a fantastic donation of £328,000 following the success of the Arora Ball 2014. This will go towards the expansion of the hospital’s imaging department, which uses imaging techniques such as X-ray, ultrasound, CT scans and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to diagnose, monitor and manage a vast range of medical conditions. Operational seven days a week, the Evelina London’s imaging department is one of the busiest services at the hospital, undertaking hundreds of scans each week.”

The Foundation works closely with the charities it supports to ensure that all donations achieve their desired objectives. Its mission is to empower the communities it supports and create opportunities for the underprivileged, primarily through education and healthcare.
