Award-winning modern French fine-dining restaurant JAAN celebrates its new prestigious title as a 1 Michelin-starred restaurant, following the launch of the first Singapore edition of the renowned guidebook. The restaurant, helmed by Chef de Cuisine Kirk Westaway, is committed to serving the best seasonal produce-driven cuisine with the finest ingredients, executed with known finesse and sophistication.

“I am overwhelmed with joy and feel extremely proud of the team and our achievements. We have been working very hard to consistently present the best seasonal produce-driven cuisine and dining experiences, and this recognition in the Michelin Guide is a dream come true for all of us. To be acknowledged as a Michelin-starred restaurant and be placed alongside top chefs around the world is definitely one of my proudest moments,” said Kirk Westaway, Chef de Cuisine, JAAN.

The Michelin Guide, with its founding mission to foster a culture of travel and dining, reviews and highlights fine-dining restaurants as well as hotel experiences worth travelling for. The assessment is conducted by anonymous inspectors who rate their experiences based on the following five criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits. Singapore is the first Southeast Asian country to receive its very own guidebook, and a total of 37 stars were awarded to 29 establishments in the first of this annual guide.

“This internationally-recognised accolade opens up more possibilities for JAAN around the world. It is additionally a testament to the breakthroughs that the restaurant has made in the past year, since Chef Kirk took helm as its new Chef de Cuisine. JAAN is now into its 15th year of operations and we look forward to presenting constantly evolving experiences and achieving greater heights with the team,” said Joern Schwaiger, Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage, Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford.

The restaurant currently presents its Summer menu that showcases seasonal ingredients such as the asparagus, Gariguette strawberry and Summer zucchini, in elegant modern French dishes accented by Chef Kirk’s English sensibilities.
