InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa announced as Official Golf Resort for Fiji International 2016-2017

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa has announced the continued partnership as the official accommodation partner for the Fiji International for the period 2016 and 2017, signing a two year agreement. This year’s professional golf tournament will be held from 6th – 9th of October 2016 at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course; home to the Fiji International since its inception in 2014.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa was recently recognized as the Luxury Golf Resort of the Year in the prestigious Luxury Travel Guide and voted in the top 10 luxury Fiji hotels in the 2016 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The 2016 The Fiji International tournament promises to be much bigger, bolder and better than previous years with the prize purse increasing to FJD$2.3 million dollars (AUD$1.5 million). Brand Ambassadors confirmed to attend include former Australian Wallabies Captain, George Gregan, and Fiji’s Lote Tuqiri, who have signed on as Ambassadors for the 2016 Fiji International.

The Fiji International has a co-sanctioning agreement with the European Tour which is attracting some of the world’s best golfers. The field will be comprised of 132 players made up of PGA Tour of Australasia and The European Tour as well as six participants from Fiji. The Fiji International has attracted international golfing professionals including American Brandt Snedeker; world number 23 and eight time winner on the PGA Tour, New Zealander Gareth Paddison and Fiji’s very own Vijay Singh who is returning for his third consecutive tournament.

ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Tournament Director Andrew Langford-Jones, who will referee golf at the Rio Olympics this month, conducted his first site inspection ahead of this year’s Fiji International and has predicted European Tour players will be impressed by what awaits them. Involved with the Fiji International since the tournament’s inaugural staging in 2014, Langford-Jones believes the tournament is headed in the right direction with the European Tour co-sanctioning.

The Resort has launched golf marketing packages and promotions aligned with the Natadola Bay Golf Club across multiple channels introducing the hashtag #icfijigolf to compliment all activity in market.
