Moated Tudor farmhouse with incredible views launches at Wilderness Reserve , Suffolk

Wilderness Reserve has announced the launch of Moat Cottage, a moated Tudor farmhouse set atop a hill which has been lovingly restored and includes five bedrooms plus a sixth in its own bothy perching over the moat. The property is part of Wilderness Reserve, a stunning privately-owned 5,000 acre estate in the heart of Suffolk, offering a luxury collection of fully serviced properties available to rent for weekends or longer stays. Located just two hours from London, and a stone’s throw from Suffolk’s fine Heritage Coast, it’s the ultimate bolthole.

Moat Cottage offers a true taste of Huckleberry Finn living! The cottage itself has a boat-like feel, with wide old oak boards and an ancient rolling timber frame. It is thatched using Norfolk Reed and locally grown long straw ridges and features traditional Suffolk pargetting details inside and out.

As well as the beautifully appointed bedrooms, the cosy sitting room includes an inglenook fire whilst the stunning open-plan kitchen has oak bi-fold doors offering sweeping views of the Suffolk landscape.  A summer house provides the ideal spot for fishing in the moat which is stocked with plenty of fish including Roach, Rudd and Skimmers, whilst the bothy includes a hot tub sunken into the water creating the ultimate relaxation spot.

Moat Cottage comes complete with underfloor heating throughout, a professional range cooker and daily housekeeping is included whilst additional services, including chefs and butlers can be added. Wilderness Reserve offers all the country pursuits you’d expect from a traditional English Estate, including: Clay-pigeon shoots, fishing, bird-watching, buggy tours and cycling. There is also a naturally-filtered swimming pool and tennis courts on the main estate (about 15 minutes from Moat Cottage).

Prices at Moat Cottage start from £562 per night (based on a seven night stay).
