High altitude summer fun in the Haute Savoie - Villa Rose perfectly blends belle-époque grandeur and the great outdoors

Haute Savoie - Villa Rose
A beautifully restored Villa in the picture-postcard alpine village of Samoëns offers a great base for a getaway in the great outdoors. Villa Rose is the ideal base for all kinds of activities, from the adrenaline-pumping to the more sedate, while offering luxury accommodation that has all the amenities and flexibility of a very special boutique hotel.

Ideally situated just an hour from Geneva airport, the Grand Massif is a ‘must-visit’ for skiers in the winter, but the mountains are an outdoor-lover’s paradise in the summer too. Easily accessible from Samoëns, the Giffre Valley is a natural playground for all levels of fitness and skill and Villa Manager Selina Cockx can advise on and arrange activities suitable for all guests. From climbing the Via Ferrata and mountain biking, to caving and parapenting, there are plenty of options to keep visitors active for each day of their stay. White water rafting, canyoning and hot air ballooning are all popular activities too.

After an action-filled day of fun, Villa Rose is the perfect place to lounge in style – its sun-filled Victorian sunroom is a particularly nice spot.  For those in need of a soothing massage after exerting themselves in the mountains, Selina can arrange for professional beauty therapists to visit the Villa. The therapists also offer pampering sessions including manicures and pedicures.

Villa Rose’s in-house chef, Dan Bearcroft, is leading the way in making Samoëns a foodie destination and delights in creating menus that excite the palate.  Whether guests want to embrace clean eating to complement their outdoor activities, or enjoy pure indulgence, all can partake of a sumptuous breakfast. Guests staying on a half board basis can also savour a freshly prepared champagne picnic with a ‘Sound of Music’ view for lunch, enjoy afternoon tea in the garden or indulge in aperitifs on the balcony and dazzling four course meals with handpicked wine selections.

A grand, four-storey belle époque building, Villa Rose offers five large, individually designed en-suite bedrooms (four king or queen bedrooms, and one suite with a king bedroom and twin room), comfortably welcoming up to 12 guests. The finest Italian linens and towels as well as Frette bathrobes, handpicked toiletries and plush slippers offer pure comfort and indulgence, enhanced by the sumptuous décor.

Samoëns’ traffic-free town square plays host to chi-chi shops, a weekly food market on Wednesdays, delis, charcuteries, chocolatiers and patisseries, making it very easy to while away an afternoon shopping and eating. Its famous Jaysinia Botanical Gardens are also well worth a visit.

Rates start from €275 per room per night on a B&B basis. Half board accommodation is from €325 per room per night. All activities and treatments can be arranged in advance on a bespoke basis.

Samoëns is an hour’s drive from Geneva airport, which is well served by flights from London and regional airports. British Airways, easyJet, flybe, KLM, Lufthansa and SWISS all fly to Geneva from the UK. Villa Rose can arrange private car transfers from and to the airport.
