Hilton Birmingham Metropole celebrates 40 Years

Hilton Birmingham Metropole celebrates 40 Years
Hilton Birmingham Metropole will be celebrating a ruby anniversary this year, having opened 40 years ago in 1976. 2016 is set to be another successful year for the hotel which in 2015 played host to over 187,000 event delegates. The attraction of larger events and conferences played a large part in this year’s success.

On top of this, the repeat business gained from events such as the UK Games Expo, which has grown from 600 delegates in its first year at the hotel to 3,500 delegates in its third year, has contributed hugely.

Patrick Stapleton, general manager at Hilton Birmingham Metropole, said: “Attracting new business continues to be a priority for us. Additionally, one of the mainstays of the past few years has been our focus on repeat business, particularly in events. “2016 will be a special milestone for us and we plan to make our 40th year a memorable one. We are planning to work with the local community and schools on several projects throughout the year, as well as offering our guests special promotions through 2016.

"We are also going deep into our archives to allow us to showcase the magnificent changes and achievements made by the hotel over the last 40 years. As well as this, we will be burying a time capsule, holding a 1970s theme at the hotel and hosting our annual showcase, which will be themed around our 40th year." 2015 was a fantastic year for Birmingham as a city, with the successful opening of Grand Central Station, Resorts World (which is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel) and the refurbishment of the Mailbox shopping complex. With these exciting developments, the future bodes well for Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Stapleton concludes: “We are at the centre of one of the fastest growing cities in the UK, our location is perfect for anyone looking for ease of access, and even though we have been here for 40 years, we are always looking to adapt and change to keep up with Birmingham’s growing positive reputation and remain at the forefront of Birmingham hospitality for the next 40 years.”
