Iconic wellness resort Chiva-Som unveils the first phase of its newly renovated rooms

Chiva-Som first phase of its newly renovated room
Chiva-Som, which enjoys a reputation as a leader in the global wellness resort arena, has unveiled its new Ocean Rooms, designed by world-renowned US architect Ed Tuttle.   The resort, which comes of age in 2016 when it celebrates 21 years in operation, has unveiled a total of 23 newly designed rooms, which include 13 new Ocean Deluxe rooms, five Ocean Premium rooms and one Anchan room, all overlooking the pool, beach and the Gulf of Thailand beyond.

Renovated suites include the Patchouli suite, which offers a separate living-room; two Champaka suites, with one bedroom and a separate living-room; and the most prestigious of Chiva-Som’s suites, the spacious one-bedroom Leelawadee, which offers a private entrance, extensive guest facilities and its own private Jacuzzi, dining room and gardens.   They are all available to book immediately and further renovations are planned for 2016.

The signature Tuttle décor uses clean lines to deliver cool, contemporary interiors whilst retaining the unmistakeable essence of Chiva-Som style. The new rooms are light, bright and spacious, having been completely reconfigured to include a separate generous wardrobe and dressing room.   Two individual facing wash basins in contemporary white corian make ingenious use of space whilst a bathtub with wet room style shower and separate W.C. offer privacy and seclusion.

The luxurious contemporary Thai look and feel is elegantly understated and features a light colour palette of gold and ivory; rich fabrics and natural trimmings provide accents in muted forest green and wood tones.  Abstract artwork in gold across one wall casts a warm glow whilst the latest lighting technology provides five settings, a mood for all times of the day and states of mind.

Wooden floors and natural materials have been selected throughout to respect the brand personality, whilst floor to ceiling French doors overlooking an ample terrace or balcony draw the outside in.  This allows guests to interact with the therapeutic natural surroundings of the resort even whilst in their room, reflecting a key element of the philosophy which underpins the world-class menus of restorative treatments available at Chiva-Som.

Tuttle is well known for his work in Asia including benchmark properties in Thailand and Indonesia (Aman Resorts, The Sukhothai Bangkok) as well as his projects in Europe such as Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme and countless high profile properties in the United States.

Sheila McCann, General Manager is delighted with the renovation and comments: “I am so proud that Chiva-Som continues to go from strength to strength and we have so much more to offer for the years to come. The new decor is simple and elegant and these new rooms will allow us to provide the highest standard of services and comfort in a tailor made environment”

Chiva-Som is about learning to live, enjoy and appreciate each moment. By inspiring guests to develop a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit, they can create a personal path to optimal health and wellness.
