Natural Retreats is now offering a selection of traditional self-catering holiday homes in some of the most popular areas in Tuscany, including Lucca, Pisa, Sienna and Florence; provinces renowned for their impressive architecture, rolling hillsides, hidden beaches, award-winning vineyards, sublime cuisine and abundance of Italian charm. Here’s a handful of our favourites…  

Il Maniero – Ripoli, Monterchi – Province of Arezzo (sleeps 14)
Il Maniero is a beautiful seven bed manor house situated in a picturesque hilltop village. Almost on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, this private villa is a stunning manor house dating back to the 18th century. It lies approximately two miles from the picturesque village of Monterchi and the medieval hamlet of Ripoli and is equipped with its own private pool and Jacuzzi in garden.

The house is set over three floors. On the ground floor you enter into a large sitting/dining room with decorative Tuscan fireplace, terracotta floors and beamed ceiling, TV, DVD player and stereo. An archway divides the sitting and dining areas, and another arch leads through to a large breakfast kitchen with vaulted ceiling. The kitchen is well equipped with a five ring gas hob, electric oven, microwave, American coffee maker, Italian coffee maker, kettle, two fridge/freezers and a dishwasher. From the kitchen, a doorway leads to the vine-covered pergola with barbecue and pizza oven.

Il Colle, Antico Podere Di Pomaio, Near Arezzo (sleeps 10)
A recently restored five bed old farmhouse brimming with character, Podere Il Colle is built of mellow stone and features terracotta floors, beamed ceilings, archways and stone walls throughout. Situated on a sunny hillside with breathtaking views, it is part of the farm estate Antico Podere di Pomaio, covered with olive groves, vineyards and woodland. In the grounds of the estate is the ‘Botteghina’, the owner’s store and private restaurant where you can purchase locally procuded olive oil, Chianti wine and other local produce.

The accommodation is over two floors with the main entrance from the covered terrace, complete with long wooden table and benches, perfect for alfresco dining. Outside there is a spacious covered terrace and barbecue as well as extensive garden areas. Just a short stroll from the farmhouse is a beautiful infinity pool with comfortable poolside furniture and a gazebo and in the grounds there are footpaths through the countryside, perfect for lovely long walks.

Villa Ianni – Monterchi, Province of Arezzo (sleeps 8)
Villa Ianni is a spectacular 4 bed detached stone farmhouse perched on a hillside and surrounded by a large garden. Its elevated position offers breath-taking vistas across toward local villages and the Tiber Valley. Sat amid 26 hectares of woodland, Villa Ianna is the perfect for those lovers of the outdoors, with unlimited long walks in the unspoilt Tuscan countryside. Brimming with character, the interiors have stylish terracotta and stone floors through and furnishing to the highest standards. Al fresco, the beautiful (12x6m) swimming pool is the focus of the stunning garden.

Villa Roberto – Montaione, Province of Florence (sleeps 12)
This charming detached in mellow stone sits on a hill just under one mile from the lovely hilltop village of Montaione. A short, private track gives access to the property, which is surrounded by a huge well-kept garden with many trees, plants and grassy areas and private swimming pool. Villa Roberto is the perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday or to celebrate a wedding or special occasion. There is a chef who can prepare dinners and cooking courses can also be arranged. This property is also a magical wedding venue.
