De Vere Venues East Midlands Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel celebrate anniversaries

De Vere Venues EMCC & Orchard Hotel
De Vere Venues East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) and Orchard Hotel - located within the 330 acre landscaped grounds of The University of Nottingham - celebrates two milestone anniversaries across the venue this week as the conference centre marked 30 years in business and the hotel enjoyed its 3rd birthday.

From its original proposition as a single conference theatre with four syndicate rooms, the EMCC  has since undergone significant development and expansion over the last 30 years to secure its place as one of the regions' leading dedicated conference centres.  1995 saw the introduction of a £1.3million function suite and state-of-the-art banqueting kitchen with a further £2million invested five years later in providing the conference centre with an impressive 8.45m height glass Atrium at its core, now a popular space for exhibitions and receptions.

In 2007, a further £750,000 was spent restoring and upgrading the original conference theatre, followed by an extension of the banqueting kitchens in 2009 and the launch of the 202 bedroom hotel, The Orchard, followed in 2012.  The Orchard Hotel was developed by architects and designers to an exceptional sustainable standard, featuring accessible rooftop terraces, green roofs, natural textures and an abundance of light and space from floor-to-ceiling glass, underlining its status as one of the UK’s premium eco-friendly hotels and now ranked #4 of #55 hotels in Nottingham on customer review site, TripAdvisor winning a myriad of awards.

Since opening in November 1985, The EMCC has welcomed over 2 million delegates with staff collectively serving over 3.5 million cups of tea and coffee and in excess of 250,000 bottles of wine in three decades.  Welcoming thousands of local businesses, national organisations and global brands over the years, the venue has played host to car giant Volvo to launch their new XC90 in a 7-day exclusive use showroom event as well as Lord Alan Sugar who attended a local business forum in 2009 and numerous sporting celebrities such as the winning Rugby World Cup team also in 2009.

General Manager of the EMCC and Orchard Hotel, Lasse Högberg commented: “I am thrilled to be part of the celebrations at EMCC and The Orchard after thirty years as a successful business.  Under the management of De Vere Venues, we have continued to maintain and further develop our full-service venue offering to an award-winning high standard and are immensely proud of our reputation as one of the Midland’s leading venues for meetings, conferences, special events and celebrations.” De Vere Venues East Midlands Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel are located at The University of Nottingham, only 2 miles from Nottingham’s city centre.

Combined, they boast over 25 meeting rooms - including 2,000sqm of conference and exhibition space for up to 1,000 delegates - as well as pre-function energy stations for break outs, Bramley’s Brasserie, lounge bar, mini-gym and free hi-speed Wi-Fi, providing an integrated solution for a full range of residential and day-delegate meetings and events.
