The Singular Patagonia celebrates its Centenary

Built by the European pioneers in 1915, the “Frigorifico Puerto Bories” has a rich and varied history.  100 years later, in 2015, we are celebrating the centenary of what is left of the former Cold Storage Plant (the largest of its kind in Latin America back then) and which is home to The Singular Patagonia Hotel since November 2011.

The building was restored and resurrected by fourth generation family members of the original pioneers who settled in the area and built the sheep farming industry, and was later declared a national monument in 1996.

The Singular Patagonia is a one of a kind property.  Designers and architects created the hotel within and around the national monument, blending the old with the new.   The two restaurants, bar and museum are housed in the historic landmark, exhibiting the factory’s original machinery – much of which is British made. Nowhere else in Patagonia will you understand the region’s development and the impact that pioneers from all over the world had on this area. The Singular Patagonia pays homage to the buildings and founders’ rich ethos and historical importance in the development of the local culture, economy and heritage.

Despite its rustic origins, The Singular Patagonia is the epitome of modern luxury. With a two-to-one staff to guest ratio, a team of dedicated, highly trained expedition guides, an award-winning culinary team and the highest quality amenities available, it stands as proud today as it did when it was first erected: a fine tribute to Patagonia’s proud past, and an example of just how bright the future can be. Here’s to another 100 years!

Comprised of 57 spacious guestrooms and suites with fjord views, a spa and the widest range of activities in the region with over 20 excursions, a stay at The Singular Patagonia Puerto Bories Hotel makes for an unforgettable experience in the depths of the Authentic Chilean Patagonia.
