Conrad London St. James: Snow Queen Afternoon Tea

Recognised as London’s premier afternoon tea destination, Conrad London St. James marks the culmination of 2015 with the Snow Queen afternoon tea on the 23rd November 2015. Following four seasonal and several limited edition afternoon teas, the Snow Queen is inspired by the enchanting Hans Christian Anderson fairy-tale with a glittering array of winter delicacies, complimented with free flowing G.H.Mumm Champagne.

Treats will recreate the ‘magic mirror’ with salted butter shortbread, yoghurt cream, frosted blueberries and sugar shards, as well as ‘ the palace snowflakes’ with blackcurrant and cardamom cake, glittering meringue and icing sugar snowflakes.

Guests will enjoy sipping on indulgent G.H Mumm Champagne. With a distinguished heritage dating back to 1827, and official champagne supplier to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, G.H Mumm pairs perfectly with an afternoon tea set amongst the royal backdrop of Buckingham Palace.’

Snow Queen, 23rd November – 11th February 2016
Immerse yourself in the fairytale world of the Snow Queen with a majestic display of coconut cream, mint macaroons and candy floss, setting the scene with a sparkling snowstorm. Meanwhile, salted butter shortbread, yoghurt cream, frosted blueberries and sugar shards represent the shattered pieces of the magic mirror freezing hearts to ice. The Snow Queen’s sceptre combines chocolate and pearl sponge, praline ganache dipped in chocolate and snowflake lace. The fortress of snowflakes guarding the palace is recreated with a blackcurrant and cardamom cake, glittering meringue and iced snowflakes. Lastly, the blackberry and cream tart offers a sweet finale symbolising the love that breaks the Snow Queen’s spell and marks the return of spring with a light dusting of icing sugar to evoke the melting of snow.  

The tea will be accompanied by freshly baked plain and raisin scones served with Devonshire clotted cream, homemade strawberry jam and mixed berry curd. Finger sandwiches with caviar and lemon crème fraiche, as well as savories such as London cured smoked salmon blini, a mini tartlet of Cropwell Bishop stilton, poached pear and walnuts, and a prawn cocktail with Marie Rose sauce will balance the sweet treats.
