Recognised as one of London’s top afternoon tea destinations, Conrad London St. James has been taking the city by storm. With Executive Pastry Chef Zoe Wager at the helm, the team have redesigned the afternoon tea menu for 2015. This is set to be the most inspirational year yet with four seasonal and several limited edition afternoon teas, showcasing the changing flavours of the seasons and reflecting these in a delightful array of charming delicacies.

All afternoon teas will be complimented with free flowing G.H.Mumm Champagne. The hotel will feature Alice in Wonderland to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the beloved book, St. James’s Glorious Garden, highlighting the best of spring to coincide with Chelsea Flower Show, Summer in the City served with Iced or hot tea and the Autumn Bramble afternoon tea showcases the wonderful tones of the season.

The hotel is delighted to be partnering with G.H.Mumm Champagne. With its distinguished heritage dating back to 1827 and status as an official supplier of champagne to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the champagne was the perfect choice to compliment the afternoon teas, considering the hotel is5 minutes from Buckingham Palace.

Alice in Wonderland, 16th February – May 11th 2015
Fall down the rabbit hole into an incredible world of mystery and fun with the Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea. A quirky display laid across a mirror, features delightful and innovative touches such as earl grey panna cotta with edible ‘eat me’ gingerbread tags whilst mini lemon toadstools and ‘painting the roses red’ cakes offer a playful touch.  Dine like the Queen of Hearts with her famous jam tarts complete with playing card tops.

St. James’s Glorious Garden, May 11th – July 11th 2015
In celebration of spring, the St. James’s Glorious Garden afternoon tea will be in full bloom. Chocolate bees and glitter icing butterflies swirl amongst a myriad of summer delights such as rhubarb spelt cakes and lavender shortbread sandwiches. Blossoming raspberry and orange macaroons are suspended above a wheatgrass layer, whilst delightful terracotta pots hold carrot cake complete with candied carrot. Savoury crudité featuring mini vegetables and cherry tomatoes with a green pesto mayonnaise are set in an edible soil.

Summer in the City, July 12th- August 30th 2015
Make the most of summer in the city and enjoy jelly ‘cocktails’, mojito macaroons and chocolate mousse mini ice cream cones. Passion fruit and coconut bounty cake sparks daydreams of a tropical islands and thirst quenching iced tea will also be available in addition to hot tea. Even the scones are infused with summer flavours of coconut and pineapple. Classic savoury favourites will also be included such as a ‘mini pint of prawns’ and a selection of mini rolls and sandwiches.

Autumn Bramble Afternoon Tea, August 31st to November 23rd 2015
As the nights draw in, darker tones and earthy hues take over with the Autumn Bramble afternoon tea. Chocolate pine nuts and pebbles set the scene and rich autumnal fruits are incorporated into delicious sweet treats including apple & blackberry tart and blackcurrant & liquorice macaroons. The pumpkin cheesecake offers a hint of spice which stimulates the senses and a tonka bean white chocolate mousse cake is a comforting and warm experience.

The Alice in Wonderland, St. James’s Glorious Garden, Summer in the City and Autumn Bramble afternoon teas are available at £49 per person with free flowing G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Champagne or £35 per person without champagne.  

Zoe Wager – London’s Top Executive Pastry Chef
The driving force behind the culinary delights which make their way from the hotel’s kitchen is Zoe Wager. As Executive Pastry Chef she ensures that every afternoon tea the hotel creates is full of fun and passion, offering an incredible taste sensation to every guest. Zoe commented “After undertaking the massive challenge of designing more than 34,000 desserts for the London Olympics 2012, I am not afraid to try something new and I have expanded my creative focus to create a stunning and memorable gourmet and visual experience at Conrad London St. James."
