Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay, Turkey introduces new Shisha Sommelier

Hidden in the Turkish Riviera, carved into its own private bay in Bodrum, lies the luxuriously sophisticated Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay. The stunning hotel is now offering guests the opportunity to sample their favourite flavour of shisha and immerse themselves in the ancient Turkish tradition whilst surrounded in the epitome of Mediterranean chic, with views of the sea that stretch out to the horizon.

In the tranquil setting of Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay’s chill out lounge, located by the undulating infinity pool, guests can enjoy a tantalizing selection of 12 exotic and fragrant flavours of shisha. Guests will find the hotel’s very own Shisha Sommelier, Kenan Tespi, in this calming and airy location, which has sweeping panoramas of the glistening Aegean Coast and enjoys the sea’s natural breeze.

The relaxing and indulgent experience, which has be has been part of Turkish culture since the 17th century, has endured somewhat of a revolution in the past two decades, with a wealth of exciting varieties and flavours entering the market.  

Sweet, sour or savoury, Kenan Tespi, the shisha expert, who has worked within the art of shisha for 30 years, will strategically create the perfect accompaniment for the shisha novice and experts’ palates.

With flavours including rich chocolate, aromatic cappuccino, refreshing watermelon, toothsome grape, sweet coconut and tangy aniseed, he is sure to create a shisha that perfectly mirror guests’ moods and tastes. Guests can opt to wind down, inhaling the flavours of rich chocolate paired with aromatic cappuccino or perhaps awaken their senses with the sommelier’s favourite mix, a citrusy combination of orange and lemon. Those with a cool fruity inclination can opt for a blend of strawberry, banana and peach, together with mint.

Kenan Tespi’s expertise is not just limited to shisha. In addition to shisha paring, he can also recommend a glass of the Turkish favourite, Raki and also wine, or perhaps a Turkish tea or coffee as a non-alcoholic alternative.  

Aside from these new smoky and flavoursome offerings, Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay is the perfect place to unwind, with its Silent Beach. The adult’s only private bay is a boat, phone, music and child-free beach. Guests can stroll down the sandy stretch of tranquillity with only the sound of the cerulean waves reaching land.  There are also spa therapists on hand and refreshing drinks available at the push of a button (located on each parasol).
