The Good Hotel Guide to go Europe-wide

800 properties reviewed in 2015 edition, reports Geoffrey Cuthbert

For nearly 40 years, holidaymakers and discerning independent travellers have relied on The Good Hotel Guide to point them towards dependable accommodation in the UK and Ireland. In the 2015 Guide, published this month, co- editors Desmond Balmer and Adam Raphael reveal that they have ambitious plans to expand into a European wide selection of hotels.

The 2015 edition of the Guide encompasses around 800 hotels, and Balmer and Raphael claim that, unlike many sites, they monitor and track each report sent to them, with entries re-written every year to ensure they are up-to-date.

The reviews embrace an eclectic mix of hotels from the Goring, in London, and Cliveden to country inns with a handful of rooms. Reasonably useful to conference organisers is an indication, sometimes buried in a plethora of other information, that the hotel has function rooms. The Guide would certainly be even more helpful to meetings executives if a readily identifiable symbol were prominently displayed with those entries offering event facilities.
