Asia’s longest-running outdoor Oktoberfest in Hong Kong is back

This October, Marco Polo German Bierfest 2014 will once again kick off 23 days of ϋber fun, exceeding the 16-day celebration in Munich. It is the undisputed Marco Polo signature event in Hong Kong and has been an annual highlight in every entertainment calendar of residents and visitors alike for the past 22 years. It is Asia’s longest-running outdoor oktoberfest and also the most traditional, authentic and popular German beer festival in Hong Kong.  Record numbers were reached last year when more than 53,000 guests converged and consumed more than 71,000 litres of beer and 25,000 pretzels.

Marco Polo German Bierfest will be open to the public from 17 October to 8 November 2014. For the past 22 years, Marco Polo German Bierfest has been an astounding and unprecedented success. Every year, thousands of guests celebrate under the giant open-air marquee, a comfortable venue to enjoy the bierfest overlooking stunning Victoria Harbour.

Riding on the success of past years, this year Marco Polo German Bierfest will continue to feature a special edition beer, Löwenbräu Oktoberfestbier, which has more flavour than regular beers. Oktoberfestbier is a fresh and light amber lager, brewed specially to commemorate Oktoberfest. Löwenbräu Oktoberfestbier is the same traditional beer that has been served in every single Oktoberfest in the Lowenbrau tent at the annual Munich Oktoberfest celebration since 1810. In Hong Kong, the beer can only be found at Marco Polo German Bierfest.  Come and fill your stein with this limited beer at the bierfest - only 200 glasses are available each night.

In addition, beer mug-shaped souvenir hats will be distributed on-site as a surprise for guests on select nights. Also, special edition beer mugs printed with the 23rd anniversary logo will be given to adults every Friday and Saturday.

The Notenhobler Band
Since 1994, The Notenhobler has been the official band of Marco Polo German Bierfest. The band wears original Oberkrainer clothes and sings traditional tunes and hearty folk music. The Notenhobler also performs entertaining antics and hosts popular games such as “Alphorn-blowing Contest”, “Chicken Dance” and various drinking competitions.

The Notenhobler, an international band from Munich, Germany, is a traditional group founded in November 1985 by Uwe Ninow (trumpet), Martin Wies (baritone, bass) and some members from the music club "Wiblingen".  Within the past two decades, the band has been circumnavigating the globe for various musical performances.
