Vidago Palace Hotel hosts Iberian Conference
In June Great Hotels of the World member hotel Vidago Palace in Porto hosted the Iberian Conference, the annual summit between Portugal and Spain. Portugal's Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho met with his Spanish counterpart Mariano Rajoy, with infrastructure, unemployment, and economic growth high on the agenda. The conference included meetings throughout the day, a photoshoot and a gala lunch – all handled impeccably by the professional team at Vidago Palace Hotel.

Wine experts gather at Iberostar Son Antem
Iberostar Son Antem in Mallorca held a unique event on June 9 for lovers of wine and fine food. La Magia del Bodeguero gathered together wine experts and oenologists from around the world to sample some of the world's finest wines. Over 2,000 people travelled to the resort for wine tasting classes and to enjoy gourmet tapas created by Son Antem's renowned team of chefs. Said Óscar González, IBEROSTAR Head of Marketing for Europe: "Gastronomy is one of our fundamental pillars, and we could not be more proud and honoured to host such an important event."

New activities for events at Hotel Calipolis
The luxury seaside resort Hotel Calipolis, located in Sitges (a short drive from Barcelona), has announced some new activities for events. Planners can now offer guided tours of the area – taking in colonial stately homes and the old town – to be arranged through the hotel via an agency. There are also three wineries that can host wine tasting events in the area – ideal for sampling the local cava. The resort has also recently started offering meditation classes and talks for groups in conjunction with the nearby Buddhist Monastery of Garraf. Another new attraction is the chance to organise barbecues on the hotel's own Babalu Beach Terrace – perfect for winding down after a long day of meetings.

Beekeeping at Le Plaza Hotel
In April Le Plaza Hotel in Brussels installed two beehives on a third-floor terrace as part of their dedication to sustainable development and reduction of their environmental footprint. The Plaza beekeeping team are pleased to announce they have collected 20kg of delicious honey, which is to be given to their VIP guests as a thank you.
