Game, set and match for Boodles Tennis at The Mere

The Mere Dream Team

Cheshire resort's Executive Corporate Hospitality Event team serves an ace as Boodles Tennis at The Mere becomes known as ‘the’ North West event of the summer

Boodles Tennis at The Mere proves to be a winning corporate hospitality combination: Knutsford based The Mere Golf Resort & Spa Executive Corporate Hospitality Event team is celebrating having completed one of its biggest and most exciting events of the season, Boodles Tennis at The Mere. With hundreds of corporate guests and celebrities enjoying top class service and Grand Slam tennis and entertainment provided by legends such as Henri Leconte, Goran Ivanisevic, Mark Philippoussis and Peter McNamara, the event has become known as 'The North West Event of the Summer’.

Hosted at the venue for the second year running, Boodles Tennis at The Mere was rebranded this year from Boodles Classique, in recognition of the venue’s heritage in the North West region. It was managed on the ground by The Mere's Executive Corporate Hospitality Event team, which is responsible for the direction and execution of the event. The team consists of: Executive Head Chef Mark Walker; Golf Director, Joe Gates, Sales Director Gill Twist and Events Director, Janice Crosbie.

Mark Boler, CEO at The Mere, comments: “Boodles Tennis at The Mere is a flagship event for us at The Mere and represents one of many prestigious events that we organise here. We’ve given our team  the official title at Executive Corporate Hospitality Events team, but unofficially they are called ‘the dream team’. We have clients that specifically ask for this group, due to the levels of confidence they have in delivering a world class service. Whether it’s charity events, corporate hospitality or conferences, I am proud of the reputation we have built. We won’t rest on our laurels however and continue to invest in new talent and facilities to retain our position.“

The Executive Corporate Hospitality Event team began preparing for the 2014 Boodles event as soon as last year’s event finished. This involved a thorough analysis of the 2013 event where a strategic focus was given to enhance key areas where feedback indicated improvements were possible.

Janice Crosby, Events Director at The Mere, comments: “A new format was developed for the Saturday night which involved mixing up the schedule to combine tennis alongside entertainment from the players. We wanted to weather-proof the event in case rain proved to be an issue, so changes the open grandstand to a bigger, fully roofed and tiered terrace. This avoided any risks and ensured viewing spirits remained positive, whatever the weather.”

The five star menus provided over the three days were personally crafted by head chef Walker, who retained the resort’s commitment to use fresh and locally sourced ingredients where possible.

Concluding on the event and team, Boler said: "A key focus for us as a business over the last few years has been to bring on board the best people and put in place a first class executive operations team. The smooth running of Boodle Tennis at the Mere is testament to the resort's capabilities on large scale corporate hospitality, but fundamentally the feedback from customers has proven our success, and the fact that bookings for next year are already up! A key area for the business moving forward will be to attract more large scale hospitality events and build on the success of Boodles."
