The Athenaeum Hotel launches a Botanist Gin floral cocktail in celebration of Chelsea Fringe Festival

To celebrate the Chelsea Fringe Festival and the Athenaeum’s renowned Living Wall vertical garden originally designed, created and inspired by Patrick Blanc, The Athenaeum Hotel and Apartments is releasing a special gin cocktail blended with The Botanist gin from Islay.  

The hotel will be joining in the festival spirit hosting an event with Daniel Bell who manages the Living Wall, on Tuesday 20th of May. Daniel will be talking about his passion for biodiversity in the city and the cultivation of urban spaces. This deliciously exclusive cocktail will be on offer to guests on the evening along with a selection of delectable canapés.  

The cocktail is being launched in coordination with the start of the Chelsea Fringe festival, a celebration of the exciting things happening in gardening across cities in the UK and beyond. Combining the classic taste of one of the country’s unique gins, with the delicate, yet intensely fragrant, flavour of jasmine tea and rich sweet elderflower cordial, the team at The Athenaeum have crafted a cocktail guaranteed to excite the taste buds and will be available throughout the duration of the festival.  

At the heart of the cocktail lies gin from The Botanist, an artisan producer from the Isle of Islay. The Botanist is made at The Bruichladdich Distillery in a traditional Lomond still. Originally designed for distilling whisky, ‘Ugly Betty’ as she is affectionately known, is now used to infuse the classic botanicals of Orris root and Cassia bark to create a flavoursome gin with an impeccable finish.
