The Park Lane Hotel celebrates the opening of Wedding Dresses 1775 – 2014 with a romantic Afternoon Tea

In celebration of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Wedding Dresses 1775 – 2014 exhibition, The Park Lane Hotel, London has created a very special Wedding Dresses Afternoon Tea.  Available from 3rd May to 30th June 2014, the Wedding Dresses Afternoon Tea will take guests on a culinary journey down the aisle celebrating centuries of wedding fashion.

Wedding Dresses 1775 - 2014 will trace the development and interpretation of the fashionable white wedding dress by leading designers and will feature over 80 of the most romantic, glamorous and extravagant wedding outfits from the last two centuries. The exhibition includes wedding attire from The Duchess of Cornwall, Dita Von Teese, Kate Moss, Gwen Stefani and Mary Charteris.  

As one of London’s most prestigious wedding venues, with its stunning original Art Deco Ballroom hosting weddings for over 400 people, The Park Lane Hotel is a fitting venue for the Wedding Dresses Afternoon Tea.  To mark the opening of the highly anticipated exhibition, The Park Lane Hotel’s award-winning Pastry Chef, Sarah Hartnett, has created an exceptional afternoon tea menu which will be served in the exquisite setting of The Palm Court, the hotel’s famed Art Deco lounge.  

On arrival, guests will be shown to their seats and welcomed with “Tuxedo” strawberries and a glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne. The ceremony will then begin with savouries worthy of the most extravagant wedding, including Cucumber Vichyssoise with Cucumber Pearls and Silver Leaf and Sun-dried Tomato, San Danielli Ham and Asparagus Brioche.  

Moving onto sweeter things, the romance will build with warm, heart-shaped plain and apple and raisin scones accompanied by seasonal preserves and clotted cream.  

Finally, guests will be presented with items essential at every wedding - something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. The bride will be wearing a vintage wedding dress, handmade by Sarah Hartnett, which will perfectly complement her Vanilla and Pear Bavarois centre. The ‘new’ golden wedding ring of Creamed Passion Fruit Chiboust with Orange Shortbread will sit alongside the all-important Lemon and Pistachio Polenta Wedding Cake decorated with a ‘borrowed’ brooch. Finally, the groom will be looking (and tasting) sharp in an on-trend ‘blue’ suit of Blueberry Almond Mousse with Chocolate Cream.  

The Palm Court has also paid tribute to another must-have wedding accessory offering guests a takeaway Top Hat filled with coffee and white chocolate fudge for them to enjoy as a memory of the day.  

The Wedding Dresses Afternoon Tea at The Park Lane Hotel will be served from 3rd May to 30th June 2014 (3pm-6pm on weekdays and 2pm-6pm at weekends) in The Palm Court and costs £45 per person or £53 per person including a ticket to the exhibition.  Bookings must be made in advance.
