Hôtel Plaza Athénée partners with Krug for an exclusive behind the scenes experience during closure

Having celebrated its centenary last year, Dorchester Collection’s Hôtel Plaza Athénée is preparing for the next century. During its temporary closure to integrate three additional buildings, the hotel will invite guests to celebrate the hotel’s vibrant spirit by hosting ten dinners in partnership with Krug Champagne. Every evening from 9 to 23 April 2014, 15 guests will be able to enjoy a memorable dining experience within the Eiffel Suite currently under renovation.

On 15 April one of the ten dinners will be dedicated to enthusiasts of Hôtel Plaza Athénée. The Krug Dinner with Hotel Plaza Athénée will be for one night only and hosted by the hotel’s general manager and Dorchester Collection’s chief operating officer, Francois Delahaye.

Since its opening in 1913, Hôtel Plaza Athénée has remained a symbol of the art of hospitality and French gastronomy. Due to this leading reputation, Krug has chosen the palace hotel as the ideal location for the third edition of their annual ‘Krug en Capitale’, where gastronomy is combined with design and music in a unique setting. Taking place in the top floor of the hotel within the prestigious Eiffel Suite overlooking the Eiffel Tower, this initiative offers guests a once in a lifetime opportunity for a behind the scenes view of what is to be the new ‘Plaza’.

Whilst embracing the next century with subtle redesign, the essence of the hotel will remain as a timeless property full of elegance, charm, expertise and excellence. Guests of the ‘Krug en Capitale’ dinners will be the first to witness the intricate details of the subtle transformation taking place at this palace hotel, whilst savouring the culinary delights of renowned chef Alain Ducasse. The three Michelin-starred chef has created a menu with dishes that highlight the champagne’s aroma to create the ultimate pairing experience.

French Musician and installation artist Sébastien Léon has been invited to design the décor to create a unique aesthetic, complementing the location in the heart of the hotel with his creative light and sound design. A contemporary artist, Sebastien develops installations based on design, music and performance concepts. For ‘Krug en Capitale’, Sebastien will reinterpret the top floor of Hôtel Plaza Athénée and put together a musical installation, ‘Le Carileon’, inspired by the glass of the Krug bottles.

Tickets for the ‘Krug en Capitale’ at Hôtel Plaza Athénée will be priced at €450 per person including a three-course meal and Krug Champagne.
