New executive retreats launched to provide the competitive edge

Cragwood Hotel from Lake Windermere
Out with wilting fruit and plastic biros, and in with outdoor adventures and inspirational backdrops to really get the creativity flowing.  Companies can escape the treadmill of traditional corporate training this summer with a new executive retreat being launched by one independent hotel group in the English Lake District.

To create the perfect environment for staff to learn, develop and re-focus, Lake District Country Hotels are launching a series of FREE bespoke half-day ‘energisers’ for companies bringing groups of six or more on a two day retreat to any of their three hotels; Briery Wood, Cragwood and Merewood. Each have their own distinctive identities and architecture, and are all easily accessible from the M6.

From climbing to kayaking, abseiling to yoleing on the lake, delegates can choose from virtually any outdoor activity you can think of – many of which can be enjoyed in the extensive hotel grounds. Lake District Country Hotels are uniquely placed to help tailor bespoke packages of activities in this inspirational landscape. There are qualified tutors on hand to guide teams through their choice of activity, as well as a host of specialist equipment to take on the challenge of surrounding lakes and mountains.

With team dynamics strengthened and creative juices flowing, delegates can then get down to business. Companies can choose from exclusive use of three individually-styled period properties, all kitted out with all the technical facilities you’d expect in a modern training venue:

Briery Wood – A 19th century property, including 23 en-suite bedrooms (some with patio garden access) and a dining room with garden views, seating up to 72.

Cragwood – A traditional ‘Arts and Crafts’ hotel, with 23 en-suite bedrooms, two dining rooms (seating 36 and 25 respectively) and direct access to Lake Windermere.

Merewood - Originally built 200 years ago for the 1st Earl of Lonsdale, Merewood’s private 20 acre estate offers 20 ensuite bedrooms, and two light and spacious dining rooms; the Lonsdale Suite seats up to 120 and The Green Room seats up to 30.

During the day, delegates will be refuelled with steaming cafetieres of fresh coffee, platefuls of scrumptious home-made biscuits and fruit baskets. Private lakeside terraces, landscaped gardens and informal lounges at all three hotels also offer space for ‘walks and talks’ as well as moments of quiet reflection.

Later, participants can unwind with imaginative dinner menus using the very best seasonal and locally sourced ingredients - from Herdwick lamb and Cumberland sausage to Morecambe Bay shrimps and an array of Cumbrian cheeses.

Corporate package rates with Lake District Country Hotels start from £260+VAT per delegate, based on groups of six or more, and include: a FREE half-day activity session, two nights B&B accommodation, two-course lunch and three-course dinner on both days, tea and coffee, meeting room hire and equipment.

All three venues have free parking and internet access.
