House of Fisher launches cycle hire scheme for its apart-hotels

House of Fisher, the Thames Valley serviced apartment and apart-hotel specialist, has created a bike rental scheme for guests with its hub at the new 100 Kings Road apart-hotel in Reading.
With individuals feeling the pinch of rising fuel and public transport costs, an ever increasing interest in cycling as part of leading a healthy and active lifestyle as well as a desire to contribute to helping the environment, a record number of guests now ask about cycling and bike facilities.

The House of Fisher bike scheme gives guests a free resource for cycling in Reading and the local area. As well as supplying the bikes free of charge, subject to a deposit, House of Fisher supplies safety helmets, bike chains and locks and information and advice on local cycle maps and routes.

The 24 hour guest services at 100 Kings Road apart-hotel are available to support guests who run into any problems during their cycling journeys. The bikes can be reserved in advance, subject to availability, and secure storage is available at many of the House of Fisher properties.

As part of the company’s ‘green strategy’ House of Fisher staff will also be using the bikes for short journeys between properties for internal purposes.

House of Fisher Chairman John Fisher commented, “It made a lot of sense to create a scheme where our guests could instantly access everything they need for cycling in Reading. Many guests staying in our apartments work in the business parks dotted around the town and most of these have readily accessible cycle routes for cycling to work. If it proves to be successful we can then look into extending the scheme further in the near future.”
