Oetker Collection joins Considerate Hoteliers

Setting new sustainability goals for each of the collection’s Masterpiece Hotels

The internationally renowned Oetker Collection has joined the UK’s Considerate Hoteliers (CH), thereby confirming their commitment to set new targets of sustainability for the entire group. With the collection’s latest addition, Fregate Island Private in the Seychelles, already being a role model of best sustainability practice, the Oetker Collection is now ready to follow suit with each of the sister properties, including Le Bristol Paris, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Cap d’Antibes and Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, Baden Baden.

Created in 1991 as an initiative by the City of Westminster Council, Considerate Hoteliers is the first association of like-minded hoteliers, whose purpose is to encourage, assist and motivate fellow hoteliers to adopt sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices. Acting as a thriving Ltd company today, with over 240 member hotels, CH is testimony to the fact that a careful balance of concern for the environment and economic viability enhance guest, as well as staff, experiences.

The paradise resort of Fregate Island Private is a prime example of how a hotel can be run successfully according to the principals of sustainability. Their continued efforts of striving to meet the conservational needs of the island, in order to maintain its nature in a pristine state, as well as providing their guests unrivalled luxury, has been a recipe of success. This award-winning property in the Seychelles is regarded as one of the world’s most exclusive hideaways. Vegetables and fruits are grown predominantly in the hotels’ own gardens; the products used in the ‘Rock Spa’ have been produced exclusively using plants from the island; and a team of ecologists are in charge of ensuring the survival of endangered flora and fauna.

Frank Marrenbach, CEO of the Oetker Collection comments: “We are delighted to be part of Considerate Hoteliers. By joining, we find ourselves in the midst of like-minded hoteliers, with whom we share the vision of balancing economic interests with those of our planet. We are aware that we have a big responsibility to continue our growth as a sustainable company, and the exchange of experiences will no doubt further our efforts in this area."
