World's first crowd-controlled robotic bar designed by Carlo Ratti Associati debuts on new 'Smart' cruise ship

Makr Shakr, the world’s first robotic bartending system – designed by renowned architect, engineer and inventor, Carlo Ratti – made its debut as the Bionic Bar onboard on Royal Caribbean’s new ‘smart’ cruise ship, Anthem of the Seas, in Southampton.
Makr Shakr is an exciting and innovative new mixology system that allows users to create personalised cocktail recipes in real-time through a smartphone application – also transforming them into crowd-sourced drink combinations.

Azamara launches virtual travel experiences using Oculus Rift

Azamara Club Cruises is taking its commitment to Destination Immersion to a new level by unveiling the first of a series of 360-degree virtual reality experiences - Azamara 3DI.  Using the latest Oculus Rift technology, which has revolutionised video games, the luxury boutique line is the first company in the cruise industry to bring Destination Immersion to life in 3D, allowing guests to experience a cruise virtually.

Anthem of the Seas is officially named with spectacular ceremony in Southampton

Royal Caribbean International, the world’s largest global cruise line, has marked the launch of Anthem of the Seas, the world’s newest, most technologically advanced cruise ship, with a spectacular naming ceremony.
The company once again broke with tradition by choosing Emma Wilby, a 27-year-old British travel agent as the Godmother of the ship. Emma took centre stage during the ceremony together with Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud to deliver the performance of her lif

World's newest and most advanced Smartship Anthem of the Seas arrives in Southampton

Royal Caribbean International, the world’s largest cruise brand, has announced that its spectacular new cruise ship, Anthem of the Seas, arrives in Southampton this morning – its home port for the summer season.  
At 1,141 yards long, 136 feet wide, with 18 decks, and a guest capacity of 4,905, it is a spectacular sight as it sails up the Solent and docks at Southampton port. There to greet it is the ship’s future Godmother, Emma Wilby. Not the traditional celebrity Godmother, Emma was chosen for the honour after a months-long nationwide competition to find a young, talented star from within the travel industry.

FCCA Conference & Trade Show registration opens

Registration has opened for the 2015 FCCA Conference & Trade Show, taking place in Cozumel, Mexico from October 5-9, 2015. The event will gather over 1,000 cruise tourism stakeholders and more than 100 FCCA Member Line executives, presidents and CEOs for a four-day series of meetings, workshops and networking opportunities.
