The Dunfermline based company which runs events and team development training across the UK were recognised alongside some of Scotland’s biggest events including The Royal Highland Show, Turner Prize and World Gymnastics Championships.
Team Challenge Company walked away with the award after delivering a complex 50-mile-long GPS treasure hunt called #DestinationUnknown. The panel of judges, which included Mark Stewart from EventScotland, commended Team Challenge Company for their ‘considerable planning and ability to deliver precisely on complex client requirements’.
Team Challenge Company’s #DestinationUnknown awayday was designed to reward staff at Eureka Solutions software company. The client brief was for an event with ‘wow factor’, where event details, especially venue location, were to be kept secret for as long as possible and that would generate a feeling of camaraderie. The event included a 50-mile- long app-based digital treasure hunt with 100 possible routes. Checkpoints included Stirling Castle, Andy Murray’s Golden post-box in Dunblane and Hampden Park. Tasks included recreating movie scenes from the likes of Rocky and Titanic, singing a favourite Disney song and taking group selfies. The day also included challenges and activities from rapping to the ‘Prince of Bel Air’ to gundog training and falconry, and a glamourous James Bond themed evening casino to fit with the delegates’ day of being super sleuths at one of the UK’s most luxurious venues, the world famous 5 star Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire.
The pioneering software used for the event has been a huge success in the corporate event markets in the USA, Japan, and the Middle East. Team Challenge Company, which holds exclusive rights for GoTeam in the Scottish market believes its deployment for the #DestinationUnknown event is the first time it has been used on such a grand scale.
Co-director at Team Challenge Company, Gerard Crowley, said: “It is a huge honour to be recognised by the Scottish Event Awards as they are one of the most prestigious in the industry.
“This was one of the most complex events we have ever delivered and I could not be prouder of my team who worked tirelessly, planning meticulously and ensuring that we delivered an incredible event. The acknowledgment we have received from both the client and our peers has spurred us on to develop even more innovative events in the future.”
A Scottish Event Awards spokesperson said “We would like to congratulate Team Challenge Company on their well-deserved win. It was clear the complex event took considerable planning and the judges were impressed by the fun and innovative use of the cutting edge GPS tracking app to bring the event to life.
“The Drum Scottish Event Awards look to celebrate the very best of the Scottish events industry. As the awards grow in size we receive ever increasing numbers of quality applications making the level of competition tougher each and every year.”
