Gleneagles’ success in the awards – which recognise and celebrate the country’s finest hotel and venue facilities – reflects the unparalleled range and quality of its leisure activities and facilities.
The luxury Perthshire hotel faced worthy competition in the category, which was judged in two key stages by leading industry professionals and then by agency decision makers.
Katey McDonald, Gleneagles’ Regional Sales Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the hotel in front of an audience of industry peers at the Mecure Hotel in Manchester. She said: “We’re delighted and honoured to receive this award from CHS. Gleneagles is set in an idyllic glen in Scotland and we strive to make the very most of our surroundings, as reflected by our superb range of leisure activities – from our famous golf courses to our range of traditional country pursuits.
“When the hotel opened its doors in 1924, the media of the day dubbed it the Palace in the Glens and the Playground of the Gods. This is a reputation that we hold to this day and one of which we are so proud.
“It’s also a reputation that we continue to develop and enhance to ensure that – whether our quests come seeking tranquillity and relaxation, or thrill and excitement, or competitive adventure and fun – we offer something to inspire everyone.”
Golf at Gleneagles is an unashamed pleasure. The three championship golf courses, including The PGA Centenary Course – Host Venue of the 2014 Ryder Cup – offer views of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. From the golfing legends to amateurs and beginners, generations have tested their skills on Gleneagles’ courses.
An unparalleled range of country pursuits is offered across the 850 acre estate. Guests can enjoy trout fishing; ride at the Equestrian School; handle Labradors at the Gundog School; or fly a Harris Hawk at the world’s first Falconry School. Competitive individuals might try archery, rifle or clay target shooting, or test their skills on two of Scotland's most challenging off-road driving courses.
Afterwards, guests can relax in the multi award-winning Spa by ESPA featuring 20 treatment rooms, a vitality pool, and a host of indulgent treatments which reflect a fusion of the latest scientific advances, potent European therapies, Eastern philosophy and Ayurvedic influence. The fully-equipped Club offers further opportunity for unwinding – with two indoor swimming pools, an outdoor hot pool, a gym, a dance and aerobics studio, tennis facilities and a steam room and sauna.
