Fifth year in a row as ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has won the Gold M&IT Award for ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ for the fifth year in a row. The announcement was made on Friday 26 February at the 2016 UK Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT) Industry Awards in London.
The M&IT Industry Awards are the result of voting by readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine and they recognise and reward excellence in the industry. The CCD was up against strong competition from five major international convention centres – RAI Amsterdam, CCIB (Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona), Dubai World Trade Centre, Estrel Berlin and Grimaldi Forum Monaco.
Speaking about this achievement, Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD said that the venue has now won this prestigious award for five consecutive years, with Gold awards in 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012, following on from a Silver award in 2011, just months after the centre opened. He added, “We are thrilled with this award and we're sincerely grateful to all who voted for us. Winning this award five times represents a massive endorsement from the UK market, especially given that it was against such tough international competition. It means a lot to our team in Dublin, whose commitment to exceptional service continues to deliver events that surpass our clients’ expectations time and time again.”
The Gala Awards Dinner took place at the ‘Battersea Evolution’ in London with BBC presenter Kate Silverton as Mistress of Ceremonies in front of a strong crowd of more than 1,200 industry professionals.
This latest award brings the total number of industry awards The CCD has received since opening just over five years ago to 32.
