Saadiyat Island gets Middle East’s best beach award

At the 22nd annual World Travel Awards in Dubai on Tuesday 5th May, Abu Dhabi won seven awards. Votes were gathered from industry professionals and the general public.
The accolade of ‘Middle East’s Leading Beach Destination’ was awarded to Saadiyat Island, which boasts a 9km pristine beach and clean, warm, turquoise waters. Facilities there include a 400-metre blue-flagged public beach, the luxury Saadiyat Beach Club, two 5-star hotels, St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, and also the Gary Player-designed Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, the first ocean course in the region.

Of special interest to a MICE audience is the remarkable fact that Abu Dhabi had the honour of being named the ‘Middle East’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination’ for a third consecutive year.

‘This achievement reflects the emirate’s growing MICE appeal and diversity of experience for visiting delegates’, says Mubarak Al Shamisi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, a division of the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.

Etihad Airways – the national airline of the United Arab Emirates – won awards for ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline’, ‘Middle East’s Leading Cabin Crew’ and ‘Middle East’s Leading Airline Best First Class’
