airberlin is the official airline partner of the DÜSSEL-CUP 2014

The gay and lesbian multi-sport tournament, the DÜSSEL-CUP, will be held in Dusseldorf from 11th until 13th April 2014. This year, airberlin is sponsoring the event for the first time. Around 1,000 athletes from all over Germany and Europe will come together to compete in 10 sporting disciplines. In addition to established sports such as volleyball, football and badminton, the 2014 agenda will also include roller derby.

Eastern Airways' new Leeds Bradford - Southampton service launches on Monday 

Eastern Airways’ new service from Leeds Bradford International Airport to Southampton, aimed primarily at business travellers, launches on Monday 20 January 2014.
The UK’s second largest regional airline will offer three flights each weekday in each direction, as well as a Sunday service to ensure business communities in Yorkshire and on the south coast of England have a high frequency air service enabling them to do business.

International air traffic is increasing at Helsinki Airport

Volumes at Helsinki Airport continued to increase due to good development of international transit traffic. Last year was a record year for Helsinki Airport as its passenger volume reached 15 million for the first time ever.

In 2013, Finavia airports had 19,012,375 passengers (19,179,624 in 2012). Of these, domestic passengers accounted for 26% and international passengers for 74%. Helsinki Airport had 15,279,043 passengers. Number of passengers at Finavia's airports decreases somewhat as domestic traffic continued to decline.

Germanwings opens two new routes to London Heathrow

This week sees the first flights from Berlin-Tegel and Hamburg to Europe's largest airport, London Heathrow

Germanwings is now offering two new connections from Germany to Europe's largest airport. For the first time on Monday morning, the Germanwings jets took off from Berlin-Tegel and Hamburg, destined for London’s London Heathrow.

Austrian Airlines launches fourth daily flight between London and Vienna

Austrian Airlines is to increase its flight product to and from London: from 30 March 2014 onwards, the carrier will offer passengers one extra flight a day from Vienna to the British capital and back. Flight will leave on an Airbus A320 with flight number OS 461/2. This latest improvement in the service means the Austrian airline will now travel to and from London four times a day.
