Emirates named most valuable airline brand worldwide

Retains #1 ranking in the Middle East, brand value up 34 per cent

Emirates, a global connector of people and places, is the most valuable airline brand worldwide for the third consecutive year, according to The Brand Finance Global 500 report for 2014 that was released this week.

United Airlines is the first to fly with new, fuel-efficient split scimitar winglets  

A United Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft freshly retrofitted with new Split Scimitar Winglets took to the skies, marking the first commercial flight worldwide to operate with the advanced winglet technology. United flight 1273 on Tuesday took off from the airline’s Houston hub and flew to Los Angeles. The airline installed the innovative winglets on the Boeing 737-800 after the FAA approved the technology made by Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) earlier this month.

Air Charter Service reports 14% growth in charter numbers

The leading aircraft charter specialist, Air Charter Service, has reported that it completed almost 7,500 charter contracts in its financial year, Feb 1st – Jan 31st.
The figure means a growth of 14% year on year and new Managing Director, Ruan Courtney, was pleased to comment: “The figures are a great testament to our staff’s work ethic, and professionalism as we saw a rise in almost every division across our 16 offices.

Qatar Airways to launch first All-Business Class service from London Heathrow

Qatar Airways is to become the first carrier to fly an all-Business Class service from London Heathrow. The new, daily service will fly from Heathrow to Doha, Qatar using an Airbus A319 configured with a single aisle, 2-2 seating configuration offering 40 seats. 
The new service, from Terminal 4 to Doha, commences on 15 May 2014 and departs Heathrow at 21:55, arriving into Doha at 06:40am the following day.
