Airlines Say APD Reform a Welcome Economic Initiative

Treating all long haul flights the same is a welcomed economic initiative from the Chancellor according to the Board of Airline Representatives in the UK (BAR UK).
Dale Keller, chief executive, said “The Government has finally acknowledged what the industry and business knew all along – that the highest rates of aviation tax in the world were a brake on driving the UK’s economic growth with emerging markets.

Finnair celebrates the 90th anniversary of its maiden flight

Today marks exactly 90 years since Finnair’s first commercial flight. On March 20, 1924, a Junkers F13 D-335 seaplane transported 162 kilogrammes of mail from Katajanokka in Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia. The founding documents of the company, then known as Aero Oy, had been signed on November 1 the previous year.

South African Airways launches travel trade website

South African Airways has launched a brand new trade website aimed at providing trade partners with up-to-date information on South African’s national airline.
The site has been designed to serve as a useful one-stop-shop for the trade to use and includes details on SAA’s routes and fleet, plus SAA contact information, FAQs as well as the latest news from the airline. It also serves as a platform for trade to download the latest aircraft images and logos if needed, and features a Live Chat function to offer a new way to communicate with the SAA team.
