Cheers to Munich as the destination experiences boom in bookings says bmi regional

Munich is outstripping other destinations by up to 10% according to recent sales figures from airline bmi regional, which shows the Bavarian city is the ‘hottest’ spot for an autumn break.
Whether visiting for the beer and bratwurst, fantastic Christmas market in Marienplatz or using Munich as a gateway to the hiking, winter-sports and fairytale castles in Bavaria, the city certainly has leisure appeal.

Equally Munich attracts many business travellers thanks to it being one of Germany’s major business hubs and home to globally recognised brands such as Siemens and BMW to name just a few.

Accounting for this surge in bookings the airline says “Munich has always performed well but thanks to our new route from Southampton, we’re seeing an even greater number of travellers flying with us. Perhaps that old adage about ‘The food being good in Munchen and the beer is great in Slurpen’ is true! We’ve invested heavily into Munich.  The destination has seen increase in popularity as travellers realise there is more to Munich than Oktoberfest and start to explore the art museums and ornate Nymphenburg Palace.”

Jochen Schnadt, chief commercial officer said of the uptick: “It seems travellers are revelling in the benefits of regional travel. Combine this with the ease of access and quality service offered by the regional airports, and you have a fast and efficient option that appeals to both business and leisure customers. Of course Munich is also a rapidly growing and one of the largest hubs in Europe and in fact, Munich Airport is the only 5-star recognised airport in Europe. Frequent travellers have discovered the convenience and quality of product of connecting in Munich and this, too, is a major factor, why the popularity of Munich as a destination and as a global connecting hub is soaring.”

bmi regional flies to a variety of destinations from Munich including Bern, Brno, Milan Bergamo, Norrkoping, Rostock and Rotterdam in codeshare with Lufthansa.  Customers are able to book all flights direct with bmi regional and check baggage right through to their end destination.

The airline also credits its simple booking procedure to the hike in bookings. “Unlike low cost carriers, with bmi regional, what you see is what you pay.  All our fares include 20kg of hold luggage, allocated seating and complimentary in-flight drinks and snacks.  Whilst there are options to add greater flexibility as well as lounge access and fast-track security through bmi regional’s new branded fares, “Classic Plus” and “Executive” all our basic fares ensure that customers receive a quality, comfortable service.”

bmi regional offers one way fares to Munich from £72.  The airline flies up to twice daily to the Bavarian capital Munich from Southampton and Bristol.
